Services booked on MovingLabor.com will be for labor-only moving services. These services include: loading, unloading, furniture movement, on-site moves and packing. A more thorough description of each service, along with your obligations as a vendor, are outlined below.

Loading

The process of loading household goods into a vehicle, truck, trailer or storage container provided by the customer. Vendors are expected to provide loading services in a manner consistent with an experienced moving company. Your obligations include:

  • Maximize available space
  • Load to minimize potential for damage. Heaviest to lightest, left to right, floor to ceiling
  • Pad and wrap furniture thoroughly. Movers must use all padding provided by the customer, even if excessive.
  • Use rope, straps and/or tie downs as needed
  • Disassemble items as necessary (if your service rules indicate you provide this service)
  • Take appropriate steps to protect furniture, flooring and the property
it is generally the responsibility of the customer to provide support items for loading services. These items include furniture padding/blankets, rope or tie-downs and similar. Your obligations to utilize these support items, as outlined in this section, is required only if the customer provides them for your use or if you communicated to the customer that you would provide them.

Unloading

The process of unloading household goods from a vehicle, truck, trailer or storage container provided by the customer. The vendor is expected to provide unloading services in a manner consistent with an experienced moving company. Your obligations include:

  • Place items within the home as directed by the customer
  • Assemble items as necessary (if your service rules indicate you provide this service)
  • Take appropriate steps to protect furniture, flooring and the property

Furniture Move & On Site Moving

A furniture move typically involves the movement of furniture or household goods within the existing home, or on the existing property. An on site move is the process of moving between two apartments within the same building or apartment complex. In either situation there is no vehicle provided as it is not necessary. The vendor is expected to provide these services in a manner consistent with an experienced moving company. Your obligations include:

  • Move all items, including furniture and boxes, as directed by the customer
  • If possible, utilize support items, such as furniture blankets
  • Movement of items is not limited to the items specifically listed on the work order
  • Assemble/disassemble items as necessary (if your service rules indicate you provide this service)
  • Take appropriate steps to protect furniture, flooring and the property

Packing

Only vendors that have have specified they provide packing services in their specialty services settings are expected to provide this service.

The process of packing household goods into boxes. The vendor is expected to provide packing services in a manner consistent with an experienced moving company to ensure the items being packed are safe and secure for movement. Your obligations include:

  • Pack boxes as directed by the customer
  • Ensure all boxes are correctly packed based on the contents
  • Properly label each box
  • At the customers request complete an inventory

Packing Materials

If you have accepted a booking request that requires packing services it is your obligation to communicate to the customer whether or not you can provide materials. In the event that you do provide materials we recommend that you follow some basic guidelines.

  • Contact the customer before the move date to get an estimate of the types of materials required
  • Establish a price for each item and provide the customer with a written copy
  • Make sure you have clearly communicated your materials policies to the customer. For instance, do you intend to bill only for the materials that are used, or will you bill for all materials regardless?
  • Maintain documentation of the materials used and total materials expense. Make sure the work order provided by us has the total amounts due for both labor and materials
